In France, the Church of Scientology faces penalty for organized fraud and harassment of it's former members. One women was manipulated into giving about $28,000, while the other woman -- a former employee, was manipulated into buying products under threat of losing her job. She eventually lost it after she refused.
If convicted, six church officials could face up to seven years in prison each and the organization could be fined a cool 1.4 million dollars and possibly be banned.
Scientology is that made-up sci-fi religion made-up by sci-fi writer L. Ron Hubbard. The tenants of Scientology are no less ridiculous than any other Aberhamic religion. What does make the Church of Scientology novel, is the fact it has it's own psedeo-science, a brand of psedeo-psycology and gadgets and a policy of harrassment to lapsed adherents known as "Fair Game."
Not unlike Aberhamic religions, Scientology is not beyond targeting those who are under duress.
"She says she was approached in a Paris street by a Scientologist in late 1998 who offered a free personality test, at a time when she was feeling psychologically fragile."
And not unlike mainstream religions, Scientology is not beyond selling you a bill of goods.
After being told that her test results were poor, the woman was sold a series of life-improvement courses, vitamins and other products that she could ill afford, landing her in debt.
Again, no different than any other religion -- except with Christianity and Islam you have to wait until after your dead to collect your "
treasures in Heaven" while they are busy extorting your non-existent afterlife in the fantasy of their own designed death cult.
