For a moment ignore ajohnson's bragging on how just "hard" on science he is. Ajohnson is arguing that all religious beliefs are to be respected, period. Ajohnson is also implying that religious beliefs are beyond reproachment and should not be "dragged through the mud continuously."
So, I suppose one should never talk about the abuses of religious belief because if you do, you are "continuously" talking about them. Ajohnson gives us no indication when it is an okay to talk about them. In other words, shut up.
A mother testified that religious beliefs prevent her son from taking chemo. Doctors said he will likely die without it.
"The mother of 13-year-old Daniel Hauser testified Friday that she and her son would refuse to comply with any court order requiring the boy to resume chemotherapy for his cancer."
"Hauser, whose son was diagnosed in January with Hodgkin's lymphoma, said conventional treatments such as chemotherapy conflict with the family's religious beliefs. She said they prefer natural remedies such as herbs and vitamins.
Asked where she learned about the alternative healing techniques, Hauser said, "on the Internet.
Daniel sat stoically through the opening part of the trial as his first oncologist, Dr. Bruce Bostrom of Children's Hospitals and Clinics in Minneapolis, testified that his chances of survival would drop to 5 percent without treatment."So let me ask you, since her 13-year old son is 95% more likely to die without chemo, should the mother's religious beliefs be respected and honored?
Or should the mother's religious beliefs and beliefs in herbal medicine (akin to the pseudo-medicine of homeopathy) be "dragged through the mud" for what they are.
Murderous. Irrational. Immoral.
