As I write this, I am making preparations to leave for Custer, Wisconsin -- the site of the Midwest Renewable Energy Fair. The MREA is billed as an educational event which "promotes renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable living through education and demonstration" and is in its 20th year. I am excited to go.
My father-in-law attends this event every year and has nothing but good things to say about it. Last weekend, I asked him about the fair's credibility -- wary of cold-fusion and free-energy shysters. He said that in the past cranks like that attended, but only on the fringes and there is not much of it now.
Which is too bad in a way. Well, at least for me. I really want to find the cranks and expose them for what they are.
If I get a chance this weekend, I'll report on what I find out.
